# Introduction to Machine Learning (Level 3 - Coding)

## Summary

In this workshop, participants learn how to participate in Kaggle competitions through hands-on examples. The instructor will cover Kaggle platform, Kaggle competition, and Python's data analysis and machine learning packages: pandas and scikit-learn in Jupyter Notebook environment (either via Kaggle or Colab). Participants are expected to have some Python programming background and be ready to use Jupyter Notebook.

### Learning Objectives:

After the workshop, the participants will be able to

  • Use Jupyter Notebook
  • Join in a Kaggle competition
  • Build a machine learning model using scikit-learn package in Python
  • Know how to find a better model
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis and produce visualizations

### Pre-requisites

  • Kaggle account -- If you don't have one yet, please create a new account at https://www.kaggle.com before joining the workshop.
  • Python programming background
  • Jupyter Notebook environment (if BYOL) -- To install Jupyter Notebook, please install it before joining the workshop (see https://jupyter.org/install).

This workshop is organized into two parts. Each part is an hour in length for total workshop time of 2 hours:

Wednesday, March 11, 2020 from 12pm to 1pm (1 hour; Part 1)

Thursday, March 12, 2020 from 12pm to 1pm (1 hour; Part 2)
